Celebrating the Seventeen

book of 17s

289, a book of 17s by Mark McGuire-Schwartz

The Guilford Poets Guild invites all local poets and lovers of poetry to come to their annual Holiday Roundtable on Thursday, December 12, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Greene Art Gallery, 29 Whitfield Street, Guilford. This year we are Celebrating the Seventeen. The “17” is a poetic form invented by local poet Mark McGuire-Schwartz. His methodology is explained at his website If you have written a “17,” please share it or a poem (your own or simply beloved by you) reflecting the warmth and community of this season. You may also bring a new (or very gently used) favorite children’s book whose place in your heart you can share during the open mic. At the end of the evening, these books will be wrapped for donation to the Branford Community Dining Room. The reading is free and open to the public.  Refreshments are served.  For more information call 203-453-8836 or email us at
