An Evening with Bessy Reyna

indexThursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. join Bessy Reyna, author of the bilingual books of poetry  The Battlefield of Your Body and Memoirs of the Unfaithful Lover/ Memorias de la amante infiel  as she reads poems from her previous collections as well as new work including poetic prose. Her poetry can be found in numerous anthologies, including El Coro: A Chorus of Latino and Latina Poetry, In Other Words: Literature by Latinas of the United States, The Arc of Love: Lesbian Poems and The Defiant Muse: Feminist Poets. Her work also appears in several poetry and short stories anthologies in English and Spanish, has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and featured in “Spotlight for the Arts” with Ed Wierzbicki, a segment of All Things Connecticut, CPTV. He Says/She Says with Evelyn Atreya and Tony Fusco

Let’s get to the heart of the matter. Will his and her viewpoints on a variety of subjects collide? Evelyn Atreya will read from her new book, Regarding Rock, and Tony Fusco will read from his recent book, Java Scripture.

Evelyn Atreya is president of the Guilford Poets Guild. She is on the board of the Connecticut Poetry Society and is a member of its Greater New Haven Chapter. Her poems have appeared in Connecticut River Review, Caduceus, Long River Run, San Diego Poetry Annual, Plainsongs and in chapbooks Olives, and Now and Then, honoring Donald Hall on his 83rd birthday.

Tony Fusco is president of the Connecticut Poetry Society. He was the editor of Caduceus, the anthology of the Yale Medical Group Art Place, and his work has appeared in many publications including the Connecticut Review, Louisiana Literature, the Red Rock Review, The South.
